Friday Faves 7.11

Friday faves 7.11

ONE need to find your way?  This gilded twinkle star looks much like a north star to me – a very elegant, strong take on the starburst we’re seeing in decor. $118 from Plaid Fox. TWO ceramic and driftwood spoons are each handmade of local driftwood from The Owl Perch in Vermont. $25 each. THREE grazie! After spending the last week reading the newest Dan Brown book which takes place in the Italian city of Florence, I’ve found myself wanting to immerse myself in Italian. Grazie porcelain sign from Waiting on Martha for $16. FOUR a little wood-legged stool is simple, but elegant – perfect for slipping on your shoes before you slip out of the door. The Algoma small stool is just $75 from Plaid Fox. FIVE faceted wooden bangles painted in subtle mint are a total fave! $45 from Little Lamb Craft. SIX Do What Matters (forget the rest) are wise words to remember.  Make the remembering easy by hanging this gold foil art on your wall.  $20 from Design Darling Boutique.

Happy Friday, guys!  We’re already midway into July and summer seems to be moving too quickly.  Being on the road or in the air for the past five weekends have left me really craving some quality at-home time.  I feel like I haven’t seen my friends in forever, so I’m eager to see them tonight at the Summer Movie Series we’re hosting.

Aside from preparing for the movie tonight, I’ll be taking care of the garden, weeding my flowers, and doing all of the laundry that builds up after a months’ worth of traveling. Anything exciting on your weekend agenda?

ONE we’re offering FREE SHIPPING all day on goodies from Grandiflora and we’re running low on lots of styles!  Snatch something up before the next season launches (like the Marit Mirror – this is our last one! $228). TWO what a cheerful little bunch of juice glasses!  They’re just $22 from Papersource. THREE nothing says summer like a pink bistro table.  It’s just $88, folds up flat, and has available matching chairs! Think Pink at Terrain! FOUR cantaloupe and sun tea sorbet is new at Jeni’s and doesn’t it sound delish? I’m planning a little trip today to try it out.  You can order online if you don’t have a Jeni’s near you! FIVE one of the super classic things I love in life is the mixture of natural vegetable tanned leather with brass.  This dog lead is about as classic as it gets and looks like it could stand up to lots! $68 from Yield. SIX a summery and nautical espadrille print is new in the Note to Self print shop!  $18 for the mini size.

It sure feels summery around here this Friday!  I had an alfresco cocktail hour last night with two friends, then went to a local pub to hear my cousin’s band play.  Tonight we’re heading out for happy hour with friends (a bit of a Friday tradition around here lately) then we’re waking up bright and early tomorrow to drive to Michigan for a big party.  Sunday we’ll be heading back to celebrate my mother’s birthday, so it’s a weekend full of partying!

In the meantime, I’m hoping to get my tomatoes re-staked because they’re outgrowing their current situation and maybe read a little of my book.  Have you read it?  It’s certainly not new, but I am working my way down the list!

TWO I am so excited for the Poppytalk line for Target!  It launches this weekend and I’ll be there for it! FIVE I love that these gorgeous bamboo tumblers are biodegradable.  Don’t they look like ceramic? $24 for a set of four from Terrain. SIX the Joon pillow from Crate & Barrel looks like a mirror print, but is actually embroidery and all for only $17!

Happy Friday!  It’s been a wonderful week here for us.  Matt and I have been working in Hong Kong all week and after a day tomorrow to do some exploring, we’ll be heading back home on Sunday.

Although I’ve been overseas, we haven’t been short of inspiration over here on House of Earnest!  I am still obsessed with the luau party we hosted last week and shared on Wednesday and if you didn’t catch my 5 minute frozen yogurt, check it out too! I love the summery, relaxing vibe of today’s faves and they actually make me a bit homesick to get back to the Ohio summer. Do you ever get homesick while away?

We’ll see you back here on Monday with some peeks of our trip!  Until then, have a fabulous weekend!

ONE I love this little ‘Oui Oui’ bar necklace from Honey & Bloom.  It’s gold plated brass and just $90! TWO isn’t this the coolest ‘magic carpet’ yoga mat?  I think it would make me want to do yoga more just to show it off! $98 from Anthropologie. THREE You just can’t have enough poms in your life and this pompom blanket from West Elms would be perfectly styled on your patio or in your home. And it’s on sale for $19! FOUR If you feel like you need a bit of personality on your patio this summer, look no further.  This embroidered pouf will rescue any bland room for £95. FIVE this gold leaf console is just gorgeous.  It’s a little mid-century glam but is minimal enough that it won’t overtake any other decor. SIX think optimistic thoughts!  Art from satsuma shibuya will help you get there.

It’s Friday the 13th! Are you superstitious at all? I’m not, I’m just hoping the crazies don’t get in the way of all of the hoards of things I have to do this weekend!

I’m gearing up for my event tomorrow morning at West Elm (If you’re in the Columbus area be sure to stop by) and then I’ll be headed home to have the big LUAU party!  If you missed it, I posted first with a mood board for the party, then shared some of the tidbits I bought as well.  I cannot wait to put all of the ideas together and host a big old shindig before I head out of town on Sunday to Hong Kong again.  I will be posting the full party details next week from abroad so keep your eyes peeled!

Although I’m not doing another outfit challenge, I’ll still be instagramming and posting from my travels, so be sure to follow along.

See you on Monday from across the world!

It’s Friday!!  I have a morning full of meetings then I’m talking off for Chicago!  I am so excited to get away for a weekend with Matty and have fun with friends before three weeks of craziness begins.  I’ll be staying in Chi-town through Tuesday for a conference and then it’s back to Columbus for a Grandiflora Trunk show on Wednesday, a West Elm event (details soon) on Saturday, then off to Hong Kong on Sunday. Whew!  It’s going to be crazy!

I hope you have a fun and relaxing weekend ahead of you!

Friday Faves 5.30

bentwood chair, prosecco, bridal shower ideas, picnic basket, grandiflora home and decor,

ONE This has got to be the prettiest bridal shower idea I’ve seen in a long time… bright colors, lots of gorgeous details and a flamingo cake, what else could a girl want?  The whole party was the brainchild of Brittany from The House That Lars Built.  Pop over here to see all of the amazing photos.  TWO when the weather gets warmer, my drinks get colder.  Since I’m not a huge white wine person, I usually stick to prosecco all summer long… mixed with other things or plain, it’s the perfect summer sparkler.  La Marca mini bottles work perfectly for a little here and there without opening a large one. THREE I don’t know why I like this golden glittery horseshoe, I just do.  It would be a really darling little object d’art for the home. $24 from Cast and Crew. FOUR I love this sculptural and modern side chair and guess what?? It’s only $89… believe it! FIVE the most adorable picnic basket ever. That’s all. $52 from Provisions. SIX wow! You guys really like some handwoven rugs!  All of my geometric pink rugs sold out and I only have one of every other color left. crazy town!  $32 from Grandiflora Home + Decor.

Yay!  It’s Friday!  This week was a busy one! Lots of work and play was crammed into a four day work week.  I’m working feverishly on the Luau party (shopping details to come next week) and getting ready for a few business trips that are coming up as well.

This weekend we are hanging around Columbus, chilling with friends and enjoying our patio! I hope you all have a relaxing weekend in store as well!

ONE ‘lets do cocktails’ print is a perfect little friday reminder and one of my favorite pieces from Evelyn Henson, $20. TWO hand embroidery on black leather, this Lizzie Fortunato clutch is a beauty, $350.  THREE I bought two of these natural woven poufs today for our patio!  They make the perfect little seats or place to prop your feet. $49 each from Target. If you text patio5 to 827438 you can get a $10 for patio/outdoor purchases over $50! yay! FOUR a loved this pom pom trim summer pom pom blanket that Ashley from Sugar and Cloth made!  It is weirdly similar to project I have to show you on monday, but who cares!  There are plenty of pom poms to go around!  FIVE this decorative glass tray is perfect for holding little baubles and offering up a daily reminder.  It would be a wonderful graduation gift for a young lady! $68 from Nordstrom. SIX tortoise tumblers have just a touch of glitter and are on sale! $6 from Pier1 Imports.

Woohoo!  It’s the weekend, guys!  It was a bit of a rough week for me, but the end is in sight and I’m going to take a cue from the print above and have a few cocktails.  We have a happy hour scheduled tonight with friends, a little bit of a splurge dinner tomorrow with other friends, and of course a memorial day party or two to attend.

In between the partying we are going to do a little more work on our patio this weekend to gear up for the big luau that we’ll be having next weekend!  I couldn’t be more excited.

ONE bergama butterfly chair from CB2 in the most awesome, sunny, and beachy pattern.  It’s a SoCal take on a classic for $249. TWO this hand made french butter dish is $48 from Paperclaystudio, but anything handmade and this beautiful is worth every penny. THREE you know when you have a piece of clothing that says ‘hand wash’?  This is the stuff you need to use.  Delicate wash from Caldrea is my go-to when sudsy-ing up fragile or hand-wash only clothes in the bathroom sink.  Not to mention it smells amazing, $10. FOUR Artsy, metallic animals are the perfect accent to these double old-fashioned glasses by Jonathan Adler for JCPenny.  $30 for a set of four. FIVE original watercolor painting from Courtney Khail is so lively and rich.  I love this pineapple painting for how bright and cheerful it is! $350. SIX This color blocked towel reminds me of a creamsicle! It’s woven chambray on one side, terry on the other, and only $24 from Leif.

It’s been quite the week!  I am on-location at a shoot for Pier one this week and it’s been a lot of fun!  I’ve posted a few photos on Instagram, but I had to opportunity to have professional hair and makeup done and to work with an amazing crew to complete some editorial type videos!  I can’t wait to share with you guys!

I head home tomorrow, so I’ll have plenty of time to re-coup before I hit it hard again next Monday!

Anything fun in your corner of the world this week?

Friday Faves 5.9

Friday Faves 5.9

ONE galvanized tiered platter make summer entertaining easier and nixes the need for loads of surface space outside.  $50 from Crate & Barrel.  TWO subtle mirror print pillow allows those of us who are a little less flamboyant with our home decor still capture a beautiful trend. Available from House of Rym for €40. THREE tidy and trendy, this modern side table comes in lots of variations from Habitables in Madrid (but ships to US!), $305. FOUR an outdoor rope rug in navy and white is perfectly preppy from Serena & Lily and the price ($395) for a generous 5′ x 7′ isn’t too bad! FIVE I am in love with these little pom pom shorts from LJC designs.  I have been eyeing them for over a year and today, I’m pulling the trigger. SIX celestial coasters from Anthropologie would have worked with yesterday’s post as well!  I love that each one is gorgeously different and made from hand-glazed clay. $32 for a set of four.

It’s the weekend!! We have a jam-packed one, what about you? We have three birthday parties (a 1 year old, a 32 year old, and a 94 year old) and Mother’s day.  Whew, that alone is enough to take up the entire weekend!

We’ve been working very feverishly on our patio to get it ready for summer and I hope to show you some pics throughout the weekend on Instagram.  Matt just finished building an outdoor kitchen to house our Green Egg and the grill and we need to break this bad boy in!!  It has enough space for food prep and a bar set up if needed as well.

We also planted a big tree (Red Bud) and lots of little plants (hostas, lily of the valley, bleeding hears, geraniums, cone flowers, lavender, and azalea), then mulched the entire thing.  It was a solid 4 days of landscaping work and although I am notorious for my black thumb, I am trying to be so so good this year and water my plants regularly to keep them alive.

Friday Faves 5.2

Friday Faves 5.2

ONE foil color-blocked trays from The Vintage Vogue Story start at $32. TWO isn’t this diamond woven poof the coolest?  I saw it at Anthropologie last night and loved it immediately, $198. THREE I am not big on wearing scarves, but I am big on using colorful scarves for table linens!  This summery striped one from J. Crew is high on my list.  Bonus, it’s handmade by ethiopian craftsmen and women to help create economic independence.  Knowing that it was handmade makes the $135 price tag a little more worth the cost. FOUR a classic white pitcher will work all spring and summer long. This $20 enameled version from Ikea is perfect for flowers or drinks. FIVE festive and fun, these fish planters are a little coastal and a little quirky, $50-$60. Don’t worry, the big price reflects the big size!  The green one is a giant 19″ wide, making it wonderful for an impactful table centerpiece. SIX a new take on nautical, this navy and white (peel & stick!!) wallpaper is just right.  Also, it’s repositionable, apartment dwellers delight!!  $40/sheet.

Happy Friday!! I am really ready for a weekend, are you?  I spent last weekend in Hong Kong and although I had a great time, I had back to back meetings for most meals, making it quite the working weekend. I usually don’t get jet lag too bad, but I do end up waking up several times during the night wondering where I am, only to feel Perry’s little furry feet wedged against my back and realize I’m in my own bed.  So, I put on my new bed-phones (haha) with some ocean wave sounds and try to fall back asleep.  Side note, these headphones (made for sleeping) are amazing… especially if you have a snorer in your household. I tune them to a variety of sleep stations on Pandora.

Anyway, this weekend, I am SO excited to soak in some of the springtime in Ohio.  Things are greening up quite nicely and I think we’re out of frost territory, so Matt and I might try to finish our landscaping and build a raised herb garden.  I think I’ll also try to squeeze in a trip to the driving range… I’m trying to work on my game!
