I love the vintage feminine look mercury glass can instantly add to a room, and wanted to bring a layer of that into my woodland wonderland. I had a plain apothecary jar on hand (originally $6.99 from Home Goods), and decided to dress it up. There are so many mercury glass tutorials out there, but I have never felt like you can get exactly the same this-just-came-from-an-antique-store look.
To give my mercury glass a little extra vintage umph! I added some etched laurel leaves onto either side as well. It’s barely there, but perfectly subtle.
I filled my new vessel up with some soil, rocks and lightly layered in my paperwhite bulbs! They’ll be just the perfect feminine touch to a woodland Christmas!
Have a WONDERFUL Tuesday!

Fabulous! Love mercury glass and paperwhites!
Looks great! I just picked up some mercury glass votive cups this weekend. I contemplated whether or not they’re supposed to be holiday decor, and then I decided that I don’t care.
Very nice…you know I love paperwhites! Did you use that glass etching cream stuff (…does that even make sense? do you know what I mean?)? I think it looks seriously amazing.
Caitlin-
I did use the paste! The jar says to leave on the paste for 60 seconds, but I always do closer to 3 minutes.
I say post a tutorial! I want to know how you did this!!
I do have all the process pics… maybe I’ll do that this weekend!
Your glass looks really nice. I really like the paperwhites, they will look beautiful in your jar. I bought a mercury glass vase from Michaels tonight…it is pretty big and it was 50% off!
It looks fantastic! I’m going to second the tutorial – I have a ton of apothecary jars left over from my wedding in October and I think one might be getting a little House of Earnest inspired action soon.
Have a great night!
Emily
ok… it’s settled! I’ll post it this weekend!
Love this idea! Here’s hoping you post a tutorial so I can update some of my clear glass jars I have sitting around. Love it paired with the paperwhites also!
