Happy Monday! I’ve been up to so much these past couple weekends at home that I thought I’d give you a little update from the homefront.
The project started by ripping off the old lattice that surrounds the opening under our porch and cleaning out old brush, weeds, and debris. We then worked to paint new lattice, a seriously painstaking project. KEEP READING BELOW for more pics and the complete story on our front porch facelift.
If I can give anyone some advice lattice it is this: buy the pre-painted lattice. If you do insist on paining your own, rent or buy a paint sprayer. It took me 3 hours to hand paint once piece of lattice with a roller and brush. I got fed up, bought a little 18V sprayer from Home Depot and the remaining 5 pieces took me about 30 minutes each.
I got so sick of the lattice project that on my last trip to the home improvement store for the day, I got caught up in prettier things and bought some ferns to flank the door. While I spent a lifetime painting lattice, Matt was working hard to eradicate an old eyesore shrub and do some edging and mulching. We finished up by transplanting some smaller hastas to the area where the eyesore shrub once was.
It sure looks like a lot less work than it actually was. I still have the rest of the front porch paint to complete, and hope to squeeze it into the agenda sometime soon!
How was your weekend? Did you do fun things, or a ton of work like us?
Have a SPECTACULAR Monday!
