Signed, Sealed, Delivered

I’ve always loved the look of a wax sealed envelope, but struggled with melting the wax at just the right spot and without singe marks.  It occurred to me last night to melt the wax onto another surface, allowing me to better control the quality of the seal as well as make multiples.  I broke out my non-stick baking mat and it worked just perfectly.  A little glue to fix them to an envelope, and I was all set.

Using glue instead of dripping wax directly on what I was sealing opened up other opportunities for using the seal too! How about a pretty little adornment on a bud vase? Cute and personalized.

Have a SPLENDID Wednesday!

The wax seal (both on the envelope and the case) looks lovely! So charming and understated. Can I ask where you acquired your stamp? I’m building a bigger (and more comprehensive) arsenal of stationery and I’d be curious to incorporate some calligraphy and some wax on occasion. Perhaps for invitations or special thank you notes!

Love this idea! Is it as simple as just melting any piece of wax, and forming a little blog that you then stamp? I am definitely going to have to try this!

Erika – There is a particular kind of wax used that you can buy and it is slightly different than regular wax. You can buy the sticks with the wick, or sticks that fit into your glue gun!

I love it! I use these stamps for vendor packages. On Paper is a great store!

SO SMART. I love my Silpats with an unhealthy passion, and this is one more reason they are indispensable.

You’ve done it again, Erin! I love the wax seal around the vase! I’ve been wanting to make a custom wax seal for a while now, but I can’t wait. I may have to just go out and buy a general one!

Shared this on the blog today!

Beautiful, luxe, and very practical! It’s too much pressure to try to get things right on the first try sometimes. : )

I’m saving your idea to share with readers – I write a blog about gift wrapping and want to do a roundup of ideas for dressing up an envelope! Thanks for sharing with us.
