Summer Styling Series: The Bedside Table

It’s a big day around here!  The second House of Earnest styling video is live and I had so much fun creating this one.  I love styling my bedside table and change it up regularly.  Since it’s the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see at night, I know that if you enjoy the style, you’ll sleep (and awake) happy.

Of course, you can watch the video here on the site, BUT videos usually go live before I post here, so if you want to be on the up and up, go ahead and subscribe to my You Tube channel!  You’ll get all the videos and you’ll love them.  Promise.

Onto the bedside styling.  Function is so important here because you really need certain things at an arms reach when you’re in bed.  I usually find myself reaching for lotion (why do my hands get so dry at night?) and pens or markers.  At night, I read in bed and I like to write in my books… on Sunday mornings I like to sit in bed with coffee and mark all over pages of magazines for either House of Earnest or Grandiflora inspiration, so that’s the reason for the needed writing utensils in bed.  I don’t wear glasses or a retainer (although I should!), but I know a ton of people do, so my styling suggestions are totally catered to those of us who have a lot of bed-side needs.

Of course, these are just the high notes, but I think if you had one of each of these elements in your bedside design, you’d be quite happy with the outcome. It will look pulled together without being cluttered.  That’s my kind of style.

I hope you learned something new and loved the video, you can tell that I was laughing a lot during the outtakes because sometimes I come on camera and I’m mid-laugh.  Really since I’m here all alone making them, I’m just laughing at my own ridiculousness or something totally stupid that I said and cut out.

Most important, have fun with your styling and I cannot iterate it enough, but, play around!  You’ll land on something that feels good and have a good style base that you can use over and over again.

Have a wonderful hump-day you guys!

Thank you for this post! I was just looking at my bedside table today thinking it needed some attention. I really love the glass jewelry boxes from Anthropologie as well :).
